Welcome to Vicksburg Middle School!
Thank you for visiting our website. We at VMS welcome our returning students and our new students to the “Bulldog Pack” and look forward to another exciting and productive school year. Middle school is a time of change. A new school year is always an exciting time for all. It brings new opportunities, new classes, new faces and new expectations. Our middle school has approximately 600 students in 6th, 7th and 8th grades.
New STEM Classes The 2015-16 school year brings new academic opportunities for sixth and seventh grade students; we have implemented two new STEM [STEM is an acronym referring to the academic disciplines of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics] classes; Design & Modeling and Automation & Robotics. In Design & Modeling class students apply the design process to solve problems and understand the influence of creativity and innovation in their lives. Students produce a portfolio to showcase their innovative solutions. In Automation & Robotics class students trace the development of robotics and learn about mechanical systems by designing, building, and programming real-world objects. We are excited about these new opportunities for students to develop problem solving skills.
Staff We have a staff of highly qualified and dedicated teachers, who are committed to maximizing the success and potential of your child. Our desire is to see your child grow academically and socially so they are on the path to graduate college and career ready. All of our teachers are always willing to talk with you about your child's progress. If you have any questions in regards to your child's progress, please contact his/her teacher to discuss strategies for success in the classroom. You can find teachers’ email addresses and phone numbers on the left boarder under “Staff Directory.”
Weekly Events The “Weekly Events” icon will take you to a list of VMS events coming up for the next two weeks. As always, if you have a question about an event, please feel free to call the middle school office for further clarification.
