Welcome to Vicksburg Middle School's webpage! We are proud to report that VMS ranked in the TOP 10% of ALL Michigan Schools for 2010 based on the new Race to the Top ratings on our Math and Reading performance over the past two years! Way to go students and staff of VMS!
We are pleased that you have visited our site and would greatly appreciate an opportunity to have you visit our school. When you visit VMS in person you will find a great group of approximately 600 students in grades 6, 7, and 8. We are proud of our students who strive to show Honesty, Caring, Respect, and Responsibility in everything they do at VMS. We have a staff of highly qualified teachers who truly create a fun, interactive, and rich educational experience for every child in our building. Our teachers are always willing to meet with you in regards to any questions you may have about your child's progress. If you have any questions in regards to your child's progress at any time, please take the time to contact their teacher to discuss strategies for success in the classroom.

Parent Roadmap to Common Core Standards
Below is a link to the Common Core Standards your children will be learning and how you can support that learning. These parent roadmaps, for each grade level, also provide three-year snapshots showing how selected standards progress from year to year so that students will be college and career ready upon their graduation from high school. Vicksburg Middle School Intramural Volleyball
Intramural Volleyball games will officially begin on Monday, November 4, 2013 and will last until mid December. This will be for all 6th grade students currently enrolled at Vicksburg Middle School. Games will be played on the same nights as 7th and 8th grade boysí basketball games.
Late Start/Early Release Schedule 2013-2014
This year we have scheduled five Late Start/Early Release Days. On those days secondary students will start later than normal, and elementary will dismiss earlier than usual. Teaching staff will spend the time analyzing student achievement data, determining next steps to make a difference, curriculum development, and other related school improvement work.
Please Welcome Middle School Assistant Principal Matt VanDussen
Matt comes to VMS from Centerville, where he taught third and fourth grade for eleven years. Matt received his BS in Elementary Education with a MS English Endorsement from Western Michigan University. In 2010, he received his MA in Educational Leadership, also from WMU. Matt did his intern teaching at Tobey Elementary with Lynn McDaniel.
Matt has served on numerous committees including chair of elementary school improvement, math, discipline, and technology. Matt was the MS basketball coach for one year and the menís assistant basketball coach at KVCC from 1998-2002. Matt is married and has three young daughters.
